When The Heart Feels Heavy: Coping With Trials and Tribulations

We are living in difficult times. As we witness suffering, injustice, and uncertainty unfolding around the world in real time, many of us are also carrying the weight of our own personal struggles, trials, losses, and worries that no one knows about. The heart can feel overwhelmed.
Sisters join Ustadha Dunia Shuaib, PhD candidate for an intimate evening of reflection, nourishment, and connection as we explore Islamically integrated coping skills designed to support your spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being during times of hardship, uncertainty, and emotional strain.
Through a spiritually rooted halaqa, you will learn practical tools drawn from Islamic psychology, Qurʾānic wisdom, Prophetic guidance, and contemporary research to help ease emotional pain, get through trails, and reconnect with a sense of divine calm and closeness. Together, we will reflect on how trials shape the heart, how to remain anchored in faith when reality feels overwhelming, and how to care for the soul without dismissing or minimizing pain.
The evening will include a buffet-style pizza (halal buffalo chicken, steak, vegetable, and Margherita) and salad dinner, mocktails by Pistachino, desserts by Roz Royale, and a meet-and-greet and book signing with Ustadha Dunia. This gathering is designed to be a gentle refuge for hearts seeking understanding, resilience, and renewed hope.
